Ethical Principles

Vertex Revista Argentina de Psiquiatría adheres to national ethical codes (Code of Ethics of the Medical Confederation of the Argentine Republic, as well as the International Guidelines on Good Publication Practice by the Committee on Publication Ethics: COPE).
The following issues are emphasized: The Editorial Board is committed to providing clear information about the entire editorial process, including the evaluation of relevance, peer review results, and the criteria used in the process. They must also disclose the status of the submitted works at all times for consideration for publication.

Plagiarism Detection

At Vertex Revista Argentina de Psiquiatría, we are firmly committed to promoting academic integrity and scientific rigor. We recognize that plagiarism is an unethical practice that undermines these core values and can have serious consequences for both authors and the journals that publish such work.

For this reason, we have implemented a series of mechanisms to prevent and penalize plagiarism in all manuscripts submitted to our journal. We ensure that each manuscript undergoes a thorough review process using plagiarism detection software and manual online checks, which allows us to guarantee the originality and quality of every article we publish. We currently use the online tool plagiarismdetector.net, which offers a fast and efficient method for detecting plagiarism.

In addition, all authors who submit manuscripts to our journal must agree to a statement of originality, in which they confirm that their work is original and has not been previously published in another journal or medium.

We are convinced that these effective mechanisms allow us to uphold the high standards of quality our journal has achieved in promoting research and science, and to ensure the academic integrity our readers and authors expect.

Article Arbitration Process

Firstly, the articles are evaluated by the Editorial Board based on their relevance to the proposed theme. The Board may reject the received works directly without resorting to an external consultation process if they are deemed inappropriate for the journal due to lacking the required level of quality, not aligning with the theme of the call, not adhering to the established guidelines of the journal, or presenting evidence of plagiarism. Reviewers should report any detected instances of plagiarism in the works they evaluate. Additionally, they must maintain confidentiality regarding the reviewed articles. In case of rejecting a work, reviewers must provide a justification. Reviewers should recuse themselves in the event of conflicts of interest.

Once this stage is completed, the articles are submitted for consideration by peer reviewers specifically appointed for the respective theme, and they are evaluated under the "double- blind" system, meaning that the reviewers are unaware of the author´'s identity and vice versa. The reviewers must not be affiliated with the same institution as the article´´´ s origin. The reviewers assess the quality of the works based on their conceptual rigor, academic relevance, originality, and clarity of presentation.

The final outcome of the assessment may be:

  • Approved without any objections. In this case, it will undergo copyediting for its final layout in the journal.
  • Approved, subject to modifications regarding writing or bibliography, requests for clarification, or observations deemed pertinent by the reviewers. In this case, authors will be given a specified time frame for corrections. If the authors fail to make the necessary corrections or clarifications within the given deadline, the article will not be published in that edition. If the authors make the required changes, the article will be sent for copyediting again. Once the final version is approved, it proceeds to copyediting and publication. If the reviewers determine that the changes have not been made, the article will´ not be published. This decision is final and cannot be appealed.
  • Not approved when it does not meet the minimum standards (in terms of theoretical solidity
or if it has severe writing deficiencies). In this case, the article will not be published in that
issue. The decision of the reviewers is final and cannot be appealed.

In the event of divergent opinions among the reviewers, the Editorial Board will review them and make a decision accordingly. The decision is final and cannot be appealed.

The reviewers will consider both the formal presentation of the written work (clarity and precision in the articles writing, organization of the work, and adequacy of the
bibliographic references) and the quality of the content (coherent presentation, appropriate analysis and justification, conceptual rigor and precision, logical presentation of content, contributions to university extension, and relevance and currency of the bibliographic references).

The selected articles will be arranged in the digital version according to the priority established by the Editorial Board and Management. Vertex Revista Argentina de Psiquiatría is not responsible for unpublished works. The evaluation process takes place throughout the year and has an average duration of 3 months.
