Abstract

Two opposing readings of significant authors - Eric Kandel and Hans Jonas - are examined in relation to the mind- rain problem. From there, the thesis is argued that the inadequacy of the critique of materialistic scientism reduces the theoretical and practical possibilities of both psychiatry and psychoanalysis.
