Abstract

In this article, the author studies the singularity of the analytical process in Skype mediated therapies. He presents this particular setting and its demands, the effects of the technique, especially regarding affection, sensoriality, pre-symbolism, vision and self- reflection. Although there are some limitations to Skype therapy, the interpretation and posture of the analyst succeed in transforming these difficulties in a process that resembles the cure in person. Reference is made to the emergence of problems such as the experience of void and trans-generational issues. More than an authentically psychoanalytic experience, Skype therapy could be considered a singular psychoanalysis. A brief clinical vignette illustrates the complexities of the task at hand.
