Psychopharmacological treatment of suicidal process

Suicide is a leading cause of death worldwide and it is an inherent risk in many psychiatric disorders, including mood and anxiety disorders and schizophrenia. Psychiatric management consists of a broad array of interventions and approaches that should be instituted by psychiatrists for all patients with suicidal behaviors. This review updates and summarizes different pharmacological interventions for treatment of suicidal process. Psychiatrics should be familiar with specific psychotropic medicines that have been found to be useful in the care of the suicidal patient.
